Jack Richard Gray, age 89 passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013. He was born in Marietta, Ohio, son of the late Merton Amzi and Crystal Irene Gray of Massillon. He married Pearl Kathleen Dorffer of Massillon at Hax Memorial Chapel in St. Paul's Lutheran Church on June 18, 1950. They have been members of Faith Lutheran Church since November 24, 1974. While in high school, Mr. Gray was associated with his father in Gray's Market in Massillon. Afterward he had been employed by Sealtest Ice Cream Co., Nickles Bakery and Republic Steel. For several years he purchased and sold candy from Curtiss Candy Co. of Illinois. When the company took their trucks off the road, Mr. Gray purchased one and started his own business as Jack's Candy Company. He then purchased candy from many popular candy companies. In 1970 he sold his business to a friend in Akron, Ohio. For several years he and his wife enjoyed selling items at area flea markets. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Roscal L. and Lula Gray of Marietta. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 107 - 6th St. S.W., Massillon, Ohio 44647 with Pastor Elaina Styblo officiating. Inurnment will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
