September 10, 1932 – December 14, 2014
James H. Eberts Sr., 82 of Jackson Twp., passed away December 14, 2014 at Rose Lane Health Care Center.
He was born September 10, 1932 in New Straightsville, Ohio, the son of the late Walter Eberts and Glennabelle Bringardner.
He graduated from Timken High School in 1951 and entered and won the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild automobile design contest and placed first in state.
Jim was a US Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean War.
He started his career as plant maintenance superintendent for Tyson Bearing in Massillon, retired as a sales engineer from National Acme Corporation in Cleveland, and was a director of robotics for Parker Hannifin Company.
He was a 30 year member of Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a founding member of the Jackson Sideliners. He was a 25 year member of the North Canton Elks. Jim was an avid woodworking craftsman, built model airplanes and 18th century furniture.
Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Marie Eberts, sons, James (Claudia) Eberts Jr., Joseph Eberts, Mark (Pam) Eberts; daughter, Elizabeth (Jeffry) Slinger, sister-in-law, Mary Cirelli Fawcett; 13 grandchildren; Christine (Mike) Muniak, Jessica (Jim) Kennedy, Megan Eberts, Brittany (Ben) Riley, James Eberts III, Mark (Erin) Farina Jr., Mercedes (Ryan) Crouthamel, Amelia (Alan) Basford, Ret Eberts, Brenna (Kyle) Finn, Paige (Chad) Perkins, Reed Slinger, Emmery Slinger, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl Farina.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Heitger Funeral Home Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW from 6pm-8pm.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 19, 2014 at Heitger Jackson at 11am.
Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708.
