James Edward Madison Sr, age 63 of Massillon, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Akron General VNS Hospice Care Center following a long battle with cancer.

He was born April 18, 1951 in Akron, the son of Richard and Phyllis Madison.

He retired from Beaver Excavating after 35 years of service.

James was a member of Amvets Post 12, was a huge NASCAR fan, loved fishing, and camping at Vo Ash Lake in Carroll County.

James is survived by wife, Mary (Lunsford) Madison; children, Olen (Nina) Robbins, Jimmy (Michel) Madison, Tina  Robbins (Carl); brother, Richard (Janet) Madison, sister, Diane Eckard; mother-in-law, Doris Rohr; brother-in-law, Jim (Jacci) Lunsford; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Rusty and Toby.

He was preceded in death by parents, two children, Chris Lunsford, and Brian Robbins.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
