James Russell Mang, age 81 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 1, 1935, in Massillon, the son of the late Russell and Eva (Swisher) Mang. James served in the Ohio National Guard where he was a sergeant. James retired from Republic Steel / Union Drawn. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris (Swihart) Mang; children, Jody (Gary) Fittro, Jill Sheaks, Robyn (Dave) Koncsics, Bryan Mang, brother, Richard (Linda) Mang, sisters, Rita Sandy, Betty Hemperly; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, at 11AM with Rev. Raymond Paul officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm. Burial to follow the service at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon.
