O. Scott
July 10, 1938 – October 24, 2025
James O. "Jim" Scott, 87, of Strasburg, and formerly Jackson Township, passed away on October 24th. He was born on July 10, 1938, in Canton, Ohio. Jim was a member of Divine Mercy St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon. His life passions included enjoying the great outdoors-playing golf, hunting, fishing, and camping at Tappan Lake with family and friends. Jim was a true Buckeye, long-suffering Cleveland sports fan, and a proud Jackson Polar Bears supporter, graduating from Jackson High School in 1957. Throughout his life, Jim gave back generously to Jackson High School and the surrounding community through his involvement with many organizations and activities, including the North Jackson Baseball Association, Jackson Jolly Jubilee, Jackson Local Board of Education (1978-1986), Jackson Booster Club (President), Jackson Wall of Fame Committee (Chairman), and Jackson Wall of Fame Community Service (member). He also served as President of the Jackson Alumni Association and organized and ran the Jackson Middle School concession stand for 10 years. In addition, Jim supported the St. Mary's NAVE group, served on the Pine Ridge Condo Association Board, and organized a retiree golf league. He especially loved the Christmas season, playing Santa Claus for his grandchildren, his Amish friends, and at the Pine Ridge Community annual Christmas party. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor (Rohr), his high school sweetheart; sons Jeff (Mel) of Hartsville, SC, and Doug of Massillon; daughter Wendy of Clinton; grandchildren Jeffery (Brittany) Scott, Gabe (Kimberly) Scott, Noah (Bethany) Scott, George (Miriam) Elum, and Tiffany (Danny) Castle; and great-grandchildren Elias and Isaac Elum; Noah, Eli, and Harper Lily Scott; and step-granddaughter Brittany (Thomas) Goldsberry, and step-grandchildren, Chelsee and Aspen Cove. He is also survived by sister-in-law Anna Mary Bates; nephews Craig (Jill) Scott, and David Scott; and nieces Robin Suhay and Lori Grabowy. He was preceded in death by his parents, D. Roy and Florence (Capper) Scott; siblings Marilyn (David) Roberts and Robert (Eleanor) Scott; nieces Holly and Cathy Scott; and nephew Rick Roberts.
