Obituary

James F."Sleepy" Wilhelm, age 72, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born July 30, 1951, in Orrville, the son of Florence (Wesie) Wilhelm and the late Joseph F. Wilhelm. James was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post #22, VFW and DAV. In addition to his mother, James is survived by sisters, Susan L. Jones and Sherry (Ed) Weisend; brothers, Thomas (Carol) Wilhelm of Arizona, Jeffrey (Michelle) Wilhelm, Joseph Wilhelm III, and William (Michelle) Wilhelm; his children, Robert J. Yoder, James Franklin (Timmy) Yoder, and J.D. Winter; grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ed Meadows; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Wilhelm-Meadows and niece Nikki Wilhelm-Meadows, Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 12 Noon, at Heitger Funeral Home - MASSILLON CHAPEL. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon. A gathering for a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
