IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan M.
Halter
September 26, 1929 – March 21, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Halter, beloved aunt and friend, to many, at the age of 95. Joan passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at Amherst Meadows.
Born on June 12, 1929, in Canton Ohio, Joan was a woman of remarkable strength, grace, and kindness. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting the needs of others first.
Joan was known for her vibrant personality. For years she baked cookies and made candy to give to family and friends at Christmas. She loved playing cards with her friends and was involved in several organizations.
She started a career in insurance right out of high school, working for Beiner-Fox/AA Hammersmith Insurance until retirement. She was devoted to her nephews, her great nephew and niece, and so many others.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Francis Halter, her brothers Ronald Halter and Edmund Halter as well as her sister-in-law Nancy Halter, and leaves behind a legacy of love in her nephews Martin (Lori) Halter of Celina Texas and Ted Halter of Massillon; grand-nephew Dylan Halter (Megan) of Bobligen Germany; grand-niece London Turczynski (Seth) of Anna Texas. She was able to meet her great-great nephews/niece Luke, Raelyn, and Johnathan; and cherished Julie Roseman, and special friends Staci Grant and Brayli Grant. Joan's generosity, spirit, and vibrant presence will be deeply missed, but she will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel from 9:45 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Divine Mercy Parish - St Mary's Church Campus in Massillon at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Stark County Human Society in Joan's memory.
Joan's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff at Aultman Hospital and Amherst Meadows for the compassionate care provided during her final years. Condolences to the family may be made here, on our tribute wall
