Joan M. Sylvester, age 93, of Massillon, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at Aultman Hospital, Canton.

She was born September 5, 1932, in Massillon, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy Greenwalt.

Joan was employed by Superior Brand Meats and was a homemaker for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by late husband Vic Townsend who died in 1969, her brothers Robert Greenwalt, and Donald Greenwalt

Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rocco Sylvester; son Kim (Nanci) Townsend; daughter, Vicki (Kevin) Kibler; sons, Gerald (Jeanne) Sylvester and Mike (Barb) Sylvester; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will have a private funeral service at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel.

Joan's final resting place will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon.
