John 'Kevin' Maurer, age 56, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 4, 2013 at his residence in Massillon.

He was born November 11, 1956, in Canton the son of John and Margaret (McArdle) Maurer.

He was a veteran of the Air Force.

Kevin was the beloved head custodian at Church of the Lakes. He was the owner of Kevin's Painting. Previously he was the maintenance coordinator at North Canton Medical Center.

He faithfully attended Rivertree Christian Church. He loved reading his Bible and talking about the Lord. Kevin was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He loved to play the guitar.

In addition to his parents Kevin is survived by his wife, Christen S. (Swinderman) Maurer, daughter, Molly Maurer, son, Kyle Maurer both of the home; daughter, Denise Reiling of Texas; grandson, Russell; brothers, Tim (Suzanne) Maurer of Canton and Brian (Iris) Maurer of California; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Brett Maurer.

The family will receive visitors Thursday November 7, 2013 from 10am - 12pm at Church Of The Lakes United Methodist Church, 5944 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718.

A Memorial Service will follow at 12 Noon with Rev. Bryan George officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's name to any Key Bank.
