John Nedelk, age 81 of Jackson Twp., died Monday, June 3, 2013.

He was born December 22, 1931 in Troy, New York, the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Daniels) Nedelk.

John was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War where he was a flight engineer in the search and rescue squaderon.

He retired from Goodyear Aerospace/Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation where he was the manager of the aircraft wheel and brake department. During his time there he was awarded several patents for aircraft carbon braking system design.

John earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Illinios and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Akron.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church as well as the Jackson Township Highway Advisory Committee.

John is survived by son, John J. (Pamela) Nedelk; daughters, Donna Nedelk, Linda A. (David) Campbell, Laura (Gregory) Nedelk-Stallings; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Amelia A. Nedelk (2009).

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Service - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, at 10:00 AM.

Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Massillon with military honors.
