John L. Vaughn, age 79, of Canton, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026.

He was born December 24, 1946, in East Palestine, Ohio, the son of the late Richard and Freda (Haught) Vaugnh.

John is a U.S. Marine; once a Marine, always a Marine.

John retired from ABF Freight Lines. He was a former Jackson Twp. Police Officer.

He is a member of the Meyers Lake Sportsman Club. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John is survived by his son, Richard Vaughn; cousins Gary Hostetler, Martha Mickey, and Mark Hostetler.

He was preceded in death by wife, Merrie Jo (Hostetler) Vaughn; daughter, Kathy Marks; and several siblings.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 12 Noon at Heitger Funeral Home - JACKSON CHAPEL.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home FROM 11 a.m. to 12 Noon prior to the service.

Burial to follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery.
