January 24, 1929 – April 11, 2015
Joseph J. Haas, age 86 of Massillon formerly of Canal Fulton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
He was a retired truck driver and had worked for Yankee Lines, Mason Dixon, Ryder and P.I.E., He was a member of Teamsters Local #24 where he logged over three million miles without an accident.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Joseph is survived by sons John (Twila) Haas of Canal Fulton and Joseph (Lori) Haas of Bolivar, daughters Rita (Ron) Rice of Canal Fulton and Beth (Steve) Spradling of Massillon, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Katherine (Gala) Hassenplug, wife Mary Wilson, brothers Charles Haas, Fr. Raymond Hassenplug and sister Rita McLaughlin.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, Massillon.
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon at 11 A.M.
with Rev. Raymond Paul celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles "Chucky" Haas to the Leukemia Society, 5700 Brecksville Rd 3rd Floor, Independence, Ohio 44131.
