Joseph A. Peters Sr., age 59, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born June 30, 1964, in Massillon, the son of the late James and Doris (Berens) Peters. Joe worked for Brewster Cheese for 20 years. He was previously a member of Teamsters Local 92, and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish/St. Mary's. Joe's life was devoted to his family and grandchildren. Joe enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. He was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeye fan; and a proud former Massillon Tiger. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie (Dodson) Peters; sons, Joseph Jr. (Amber) Peters and Benjamin (Jessica) Peters; daughter Lyndsay (Harrison) McCreery; a bonus son, Jeff Kennedy and family; grandchildren, Rhys, Isabella, Ayden, Jordan, Kanndralyn, Liliana, Wyatt, Braxton, and Krislyn; brothers, Kenneth (Myra) Peters and Walter Peters; and sister, Adele Guilliams. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Heitger Funeral Home - MASSILLON CHAPEL from 5 to 8 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Divine Mercy Parish/St. Mary's Campus at 10:30 A.M.
