Obituary

Joseph 'Smokey' Ross Life long Massillon resident passed away Sunday at the age of 93. He was a WWII veteran-purple heart recipient. Retired from Republic Steel and City of Massillon. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, K of C, DAV, VFW, CFU Lodge 600. Preceded in death by wife Mary (Staken), parents Frank and Mary, infant sisters Anna and Anna; and brothers Mark, John, Nick, Tom, Rudy and Mike.

Survived by son Frank (Patty), daughter Deanna Cowan, sons Joseph, Denny (Darla); seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Georgia, Sophia and Irene.

Family will receive friends at Heitger Funeral Home Massillon Chapel, Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 P.M. with service at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Private burial Friday at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
