IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen June
Kolek
October 27, 1941 – July 22, 2023
Kathleen June Kolek, age 81 of Navarre, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, July 22nd.
Kathleen was born October 27, 1941, to Andrew and Jessie Cain in Kenmore, Ohio.
Kathleen devoted her life to her family and raising children of her own, fostering, and adopting. Kathleen was happiest when her house was full of kids, whether it was her own, a neighborhood kid, or grandkids, she had an open door policy.
Kathleen's favorite hobby is throwing an awesome party. Christmas and Easter were her two favorites and some of the fondest memories of those who knew her. Kathleen had one of the biggest hearts and gave so selflessly, which was evident in the way she welcomed everyone. There was always an extra seat at the table and food to go around.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Jessie Cain, her brothers, Andrew, George, Dale, Donald, and Walter Cain, her sisters Vivian Boyd and Audrey Haehner; and her daughter, Amber Broadus.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Ed Kolek; brothers, Carl and Ken Cain; sisters, Pat (Frank) Yaros and Shirley (Steve) Weese; and children, John (Sylvia) Bircher, Denise (Tom) Jurkowski, David (Melissa) Bircher, Donald (Leigh) Bircher, Christina (Corey) Wilcox, Harry (Cara) O'Brodo and bonus daughter, Sara Rennie, close friends, Sharon and Abner Broadus, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, Massillon at 11 AM with Rev. Dale Smith officiating.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the funeral home from 5 PM to 7 PM.
