Lauren R. Rohr, age eighty-three, of Canal Fulton, passed from this life on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Born on December 20, 1937, to Walter and Loretta (Schalmo) Rohr, Lauren was a man with a deep connection to the land, initially as a dairy farmer and as a successful grain farmer for many years.
Lauren will be greatly missed by his surviving wife of sixty-three years, Judith (Tonn) Rohr, and his children, Jeffrey Rohr, Sharon Barnewall, and Dianna Rohr Gravo. Lauren was also cherished by his surviving brother, Delbert Rohr, his son-in-law, Peter Gravo, daughter-in-law, Amy Tolnitch, grandchildren Styrling Rohr, Miranda Barnewall, Michael Barnewall, Colton Gravo, Nina Gravo, and Mackenzie Gravo, great-grandson, Bentley Gravo, and Lauren's close friend and brother-in-law, Ted Tonn. Preceding Lauren in death are his siblings Esther, Raymond, Wilma, Verla, and Glen.
Lauren was a blessing and a gift to those fortunate enough to have him in their lives. He founded his life on devotion to family, faith, and hard work. Once retired, you could often find him indulging his love of slot machines and entertaining family and friends.
A lifelong Catholic, Lauren was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon, and the Knights of Columbus Council #554, where he held the honors of 3rd degree and 4th degree with the Bishop Massillon Assembly.
Services to celebrate Lauren's life will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon, Ohio, and by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Edward Gretchko as celebrant. He will be received into the arms of the Lord following the service at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon.
