Margaret 'Peg' Jirles, age 89, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Canton Regency Retirement Community.

She was born January 8, 1923 in Cambridge, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward Taggart and Margaret Cecelia (Curtis) McHugh.

Peg was an executive secretary for McLain Grocery of Massillon for over 30 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Isabella's of Knights of Columbus Council #554, Altar Rosary, and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Massillon.

Margaret is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Norman Kutz, Patricia and Ken Strauss, two grandchildren, Kerri (Dr. Richard) Salvino, Benjamin 'Jamie' Strauss, two great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Ricky Jay Salvino.

She was preceded in death by husband, Clay E. Jirles (1997), two brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Heitger Funeral Service - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, from 5-7 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michael Dr. NW, Canton on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Donald King celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic School, 3430 St. Michael Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718.
