Margaret "Marge" A. Strasavich, 98, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, following a brief illness.
Marge was born August 5, 1917 in Sagamore, PA to the late John & Mary (Uhas) Kovalyak. She married William V. Strasavich in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1997. She lived in Massillon for 65 years and was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she served with the Quilters Guild and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Massillon Senior Center, Senior Center Chorus, Massillon Women's Club, Massillon Evening Garden Club, and Moose. She had been employed by Isaly's Dairy, Yost Candy Co., and Timken Mercy Hospital.
Surviving are her children, Vincent (Judy) Strasavich, Helen (Robert) Shonk all of Jackson Twp., Betty Bruce of Virginia, Larry (MaryLynn) Strasavich of Florida; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dora Strasavich; brother, Mike Kovalyak of Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Ann, Susan, Helen, Mary, Andy, Fred, and John of Pennsylvania.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE, from 6 to 8 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 129 Cherry St. N.E., Massillon at 11 A.M. and will be celebrated by Rev. Edward Gretchko, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Massillon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Church, 726 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
