Margaret "Margie" Unferdorfer, age 93 of Massillon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Amherst Meadows. She was born December 5, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Harold John and Marion (Davis) Monks. She graduated from Langley High School in 1950 and, on August 22, 1952, she married the love of her life, Joseph A. Unferdorfer. They became proud parents of six children: Joseph H. (Mary) Unferdorfer, Patricia Crum, James (Laura) Unferdorfer, Tom (Annette) Unferdorfer, Nancy (John) Warner, and Mary Ann Phillabaum all of whom survive her.
In 1972, the family relocated to Massillon, where Margie worked at Conley’s department store (Navarre) as the Domestics Department manager and assistant office manager. She retired from Conleys after 15 years of service.
When 62 years of wonderful married life ended with the passing of her husband, Margie turned her attention to her favorite activities: gardening - she especially loved her flowers - baking, sewing, and (of course) time and devotion with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and a former CCD teacher at St. Mary Church.
Margie is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Ann Unferdorfer, Velma (Drew) Baxter, Andrew (Liz) Unferdorfer, Sara Crum, Daniel Warner, Beth (Nick) Penfound, Chelsea (Patrick) Kusky, Brandon (Jackie) Warner, Cody (Shelba) Unferdorfer, Joe Phillabaum, Austin Phillabaum; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is now reunited with her late husband, Joseph A. Unferdorfer; and her beloved brother and sister; Lewis Monks and Elizabeth (Betty) May.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Amherst Meadows and Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care. Our mother was cared for in the most professional and loving ways imaginable. We are forever grateful!
