Mary Lou Dowling, age 56, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her residence in North Lawrence.

She was born May 5, 1957 in Massillon, the daughter of Ada (Slutz) and the late Val Yant.

She was a Tuslaw Graduate of 1975.

Mary retired from Canton Health Care after 39 years of service.
She was an avid mushroom hunter and raspberry picker. She loved to make popcorn balls for Brandon and loved her weekly casino trips.

Mary is survived by her husband of 39 years, James "Rob" Dowling, sons, Jimmy (Michelle) Dowling Jr. of Lawrence Twp., Adam Yant of Navarre; daughter, Stephanie (Jimmy II) Lautzenheiser of Lawrence Twp.; brothers, Ronald (Bernie) Yant of Navarre, Dale Yant (Liz Brakefield) of Massillon; sisters, June Borell of Massillon, Marie Shade of Lawrence Twp., and Janet Elbert of Massillon and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Martin and Anna Slutz, and an infant child.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE, with the funeral service to follow at 1 PM with Rev. Nick Abraham officiating.

Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, in North Canton.
