Mary Catherine Halter, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Meadow Wind Health Care Center.

She was born August 12, 1930, the daughter of John and Catherine (Jordan) Peters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and a great-grandson Joseph.

She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, enjoyed reading and loved being surrounded by her family.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Paul A. Halter of Massillon. She was a devoted mother to daughters Kathy (Ron) Lazar of North Canton, Mary Lou (Ken) Hefling of North Lawrence and Sylvia (Mike) Priest of North Lawrence, and sons Paul (Peggy) Halter of Tallmadge and Joseph (Becky) Halter of Massillon, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel with a prayer vigil beginning at 4:45 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Barbara Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Cebula celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Barbara Cemetery.
