Mary Alice Miller, age92 of Massillon, passed away December 5, 2020 at her home. She was born November 12, 1928 in Dover, to the late Ed and Mary Jestel. Mary Alice attended Mount Marie Academy, then graduated from Louisville High School. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Hoover Company and was featured in some of the vacuum cleaner ads as a model for the cleaners during her time there. Always friendly and fun, she had many friends from card club, Rosary Altar, nave crew and volunteering at various church activities including K of C soup kitchen.
She was an excellent seamstress and sewed beautiful dresses and coats for her daughters when they were young and continued sewing special holiday dresses for her granddaughters.
She was a very caring and giving person to so many and was known in the neighborhood for her delicious pies and baked goods. She will be missed by so many. Mary Alice is survived by her children, Janet Miller and Jeanne (Rich) Spall, grandchildren, Emily (Eric) Cleavenger and Jessica (Ryan) Storch, great-grandchildren, Laney, Lennon and Louie Storch, and Elsie and Ethan Cleavenger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul F. Miller who died in 2003 and brothers, David Jestel and Herb Jestel, and sister-in-law Joan Jestel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 206 Cherry St. N.E., Massillon with Fr. Peter Holidej. Calling hours will be held at the church prior to the mass from 10 to 11 A.M. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
