Mary Dolores Maier age 87 of Massillon passed away June 19, 2016 peacefully, surrounded by her family. Dolores, a lifelong resident of Massillon, was born August 22nd 1928 to the late Marie (Heagney) and C.F. Neil Brogan. Dolores graduated from Mount Marie Academy and began working as a dental hygienist and later with her father at C. F. Neil Brogan Insurance Agency. She married James C. Maier at St Joseph Catholic Church, May, 28, 1949. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Dolores was very artistic and enjoyed painting, flower arranging and gardening. She was an active member at St. Barbara Parish. Her true love though was for her family.
In addition to her husband, James, she is also survived by her sons, James T. ( Elaine) Maier, Jere M. (Margie) Maier, Neil W. (Cindy) Maier and daughter Sharon Kaczmarczyk. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Dr. Megan (Tim) Staub, Kathleen (Shawn) Steele, Christina (Brian) Busch, Patrick (Allyson) Maier, Drs. Christopher (Chanttel) Kaczmarczyk, Lindsey (Issac) Schuette, Elizabeth Maier, and Natalie Kaczmarczyk. They also have five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Neil Brogan and sister Kathleen Smith,
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M. At Heitger Funeral Home Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 12 NOON at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Massillon with Rev. Thomas Cebula celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Barbara Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Barbara's School, 2809 Lincoln Way West Massillon, Ohio 44647, or to Canton Central Catholic High School Tuscarawas St. W., Canton, 44708.
The family would like to thank Dr. Baum and the Staff of Bethany House and Crossroads Hospice for their excellence and compassion.
