Obituary

Merle Elizabeth 'Betty' Seifert, age 94, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Amherst Meadows Nursing Home.

She was born December 1, 1917 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Blanche (Chartrand) Callaway.

Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Through her example, Betty taught us what it means to be a loyal friend. Also, her unfaltering love and care for her husband in his final years battling Alzheimer's disease was an inspiration to all of us.

Betty is survived by son, Dr. Charles (Netta) Seifert of Conway, Ark.; two daughters, Susan (Robert) Leahy of Magnolia, Ann (Edward) Scott of Ann Arbor, Mich.; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Matthew (Jill) Seifert, Trevor (Jennifer) Seifert, Robert (Lia) Leahy Douglas (Joanne) Leahy, Dan (Julie) Leahy, Callie Scott, Libby (Matt) Makowsky, Emily (David) Mercadante; great-grandchildren Audrey, Robbie, Aidan, Claire, and Abby Leahy, Kendall, Gavin, Logan, Landon, and Sam Seifert, Lucy and Maggie Mercadante.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Seifert, two brothers and one sister.
