H. Michael Canestraro Jr., age 59 of Minerva, died Monday, October 17, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born April 30, 1952, the son of the late Herman M. and Irene E. (Bugnone) Canestraro.

Michael was private voice and piano instructor, participated in several area theater productions, and was a Minister of Music for 41 years serving at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (Beech City), St. Benedict Catholic Church (Canton), St. Joseph Catholic Church (Massillon), St. Paul Catholic Church (Canton), St. Gabriel Catholic Church (Minerva) and First Baptist Church (Canton).

Michael is survived by sisters, Adele (Pablo) Canestraro-Velazquez, Lisa (Terry) Dunlap, Uncle John (Linda) Canestraro, niece, Leslie Kay Dunlap, nephew, John Herman (Heather) Dunlap, great-niece, Julie Marie Dunlap.

He was preceded in death by three uncles, Joseph and James Canestraro and Don Bugnone.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 400 W. High St, Minerva at 6 P.M. with Father Victor Cinson celebrant.

Burial will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2 PM at East Lawn Cemetery in Minerva.
