Michael Emmett Katin, age 74 of Louisville, OH passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born May 20, 1947 in Canton, OH to the late Emmett and Margaret Katin. In his earlier days, he attended St. John's Catholic School. Mike served in the US Army and proudly was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired after 30 years from the City of Canton. Mike was an active member of the American Legion as he served as the Sargent of Arms. In 2019, Mike was awarded Veteran of the year.
Mike had a great love for motorcycles and cars. He enjoyed spending time in his garage surrounded by family and friends working on his vehicles. Mike spent many years traveling around the country from state to state known as 'Big Mike' with his son racing motocross. When his beloved daughter had her two sons, they became a staple in his life.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Mary (Gearhart) Katin; together they share two children; a daughter Gina (Chuck) Beamer; a son Michael Katin; 2 grandsons Charles (Dharma) Beamer and Grayson (Ashley) Beamer; 2 great-grandchildren Addison and Beckham Beamer.
Also survived by many brothers and sisters; Kathi (Dave) Webber, Lilian (Virgil) Pandrea, Toby Agnes, John (Jean) Gearhart, Reba Hudak, Jan (Murray) Mast, Lana (Anthony) Birone, Rita Amadeo, Craig Gearhart.
Proceeded in death by his aunts Gertrude and Harriet Katin; mother and father-in-law Thoburn and Concetta Gearhart; bothers and sisters, Martha Gearhart, Susan and Robert Silvestro, Charles Gearhart, Mike Gearhart, Dave Agnes.
The Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Louisville, OH on March 5, 2022 at 3 o'clock. All family and friends are welcome. Mike will be laid to rest in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH.
