Michael P. Wentzel, age 79 of Massillon passed away December 12, 2023.

He was born September 12, 1944 in Massillon, the son of the late John and Victoria (Saylor) Wentzel.

He was a Navy veteran.

Mike was a retired firefighter for the City of Massillon.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Leanna) Wentzel, Ed (Toni) Wentzel, Mark (Jackie) Wentzel, Michelle (Chris) Shane; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Judy) Wentzel, Vicky (Dave) Goebel, Joanne "Cookie" (Robert "Frog") Wachtel, Joseph Patrick Wentzel; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Wentzel, Marilyn Pennypacker, Donald Wentzel, Ed Wentzel.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, Massillon from 5 PM to 7 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273 at 11:15 AM with military honors.
