Mildred "Millie" Ivan, age 101, of Massillon, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Rose Lane Care Facility.
She was born January 7, 1917, in Homestead, PA, the daughter of the late Fred and Barbara (Shakula) Kowell.
Mildred worked along side of her late husband, Andy, who co-owned and operated A & D Foodarama for 30 years.
She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Canton, Massillon Woman's Club, and Shady Hollow Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. Millie was proud of her three "Hole In One's". She was an avid bridge and palm river player. Millie also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word jumble.
Millie always offered a kind word and a hug and spent her entire life serving others.
Mildred is survived by sons, James A. Ivan; sons & daughters-in-laws, Jack and Jessica Ivan and Tom and Eileen Ivan; sister Olga Kollman; grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Sponseller, Alicia (Dan) Calhoun, Christina Ivan, Ward (Margaret) Ivan, Julie (Mike) Devies, Heather (Greg) Nieman, Meredith Ivan and Meghan Ivan, and great-grandchildren, James Michael, Jay, Alexis, Kaylin, Triston, Brooke, Andrew, Spencer, Elizabeth, Brittany, Marcus, Derek and Kelsey. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Ivan who died Sept. 18, 1993, sisters Maria Lusher and Katherine (Kotch) Kowell, and brothers Sidney Kowell and Arthur Kowell.
Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon, followed by the funeral service beginning at 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Tee of Canton, P O Box 7555, Canton, Ohio 44705 and/or Massillon Woman's Club, 210 Fourth St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
