Nellie C. Pfendler, age 89 of Massillon passsed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Navarre on September 4, 1926 daughter of the late Pierre and Rose (Stockli) Chetelat.

Nellie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mr. & Mrs. Club, and AARP.  She belonged to the YMCA where she was an avid swimmer, and she loved bowling and baking.

She is survived by sons Bruce Pfendler, Neil Pfendler, daughters Denise Basso, Rita (Terry) Bentivegna, Mary (Don) Emhoff, Genevieve (Geary) Ashley, Clare (Jimmy) Hill, Joan (Mark) Sullivan, and Sheila (Russell) Morgan, 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cullen R. Pfendler and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Heitger Funeral Home-Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Edward Gretchko Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11 A.M. and will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The YMCA - Family Pool, 131 Tremont Ave S.E., Massillon, Ohio  44646.
