Obituary

Patricia A. Halter, age 90 of Massillon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Gables of Green.

She was born June 10, 1936, in Dover, the daughter of the late George and Edna (Maurer) Hess.

She was a 1954 graduate of Dover High School and received her RN degree from Massillon School of Nursing.

Patricia was a retired RN and administrator at Massillon Psychiatric Center after many years of service and had worked at Aultman Hospital, Doctors Hospital, and private nursing.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish - St. Barbara Campus. As an active member of St. Barbara’s she was involved as a Lector, Stewardship Committee, Bereavement Committee, Social Club, Bible Study Group, Parish Council. She was also a member of the “Dulcimers N Such” music group. Pat enjoyed reading, gardening, and outdoor activities.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Halter; children, George (Vicky) Knupp, Bruce (Jennifer) Knupp, Robert “Bob” (Barb) Halter, John Halter, Christopher (Kelley) Halter, Richard “Rick” (Robin) Halter, Michael “Mike” (Cathy) Halter, Suzanne Cartrett, Nancy Maurer, Lori (Jeff) Monter, Vicki Adams; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, George (Barb) Hess and Doris Dotts.

She was preceded in death by 1st Husband, George “Bud” Knupp, and seven siblings.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Barbara Campus, 2813 Lincoln Way W, at 11am with Rev. Travis Seagraves celebrant.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, from 4pm to 7pm.

Burial to follow the service at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
