Obituary

Paul L. Happoldt, 95, died on March 22, 2013, after a brief illness.

He was born in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School in 1935.

Paul played baseball in Stark County in the 1930s and in 1936 earned a tryout with the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was a World War II veteran serving with the 932 F.A. Battalion in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany, earning four battle stars.

He retired in 1977 from the John Hancock Life Insurance Company with 37 years of service.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, June, two daughters, Robyn Ann and Lindsey Ann, and his second wife, Marjorie, brother, James Happoldt.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Ann Wilson, of New Philadelphia; and son, Greig Happoldt of Lancaster, Ohio, brother, Robert (Donaldene) Happoldt, stepson, Bill (Jane) Fogel and many extended relatives.

There will be no calling hours as the body has been cremated.

A memorial service information is still pending at this time.
