Paul  F. Theken, age 94 of Canton, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at The Landings of Canton.
He was born September 6, 1923, in Massillon the son of  the late Mathias and Julia (Weigand) Theken.
Paul was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy Air Corp.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Shady Hollow Country Club for over 49 years. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. After he was discharged from the US Navy he met and married his wife Joyce.  They were married for over 60 years.  Paul helped teach his daughter and grandson John to play tennis and regularly attended high school swimming, tennis, and cross country meets.  Paul had a creative spirit and developed fun family games, mostly during holiday get-togethers.  At The Landing,  Paul tutored two residents, helping them refine their language skills. For many years, Paul and Joyce also delivered Meals on Wheels to Massillon shut-Ins.
Paul  is survived by daughter Sandra Muirhead-Gould of Massillon, sons Mark (Maria) Theken and Paul A. Theken both of Canton; grandchildren John Muirhead-Gould, Sara Fay, Andrew Theken and Averel Meden; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Bloeser) Theken who passed away in 2014, brother Carl Theken and sister Florence Theken.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave, N.W. from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11 A.M. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3501 St. Michael Blvd., Canton, Ohio  44718 with Fr. Donald King celebrant.
Burial to follow the service at  Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael's Building Fund or Alzheimer's Association.
