Ralph E Dickerson, age 88, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 in his home.

He was born February 28, 1926, in Akron, the son of the late Ralph Dickerson and Tressa (Dickerson) Oliver.

Ralph served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy where he was a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class on a PT Boat in the South Pacific. He was a member of Dr. Roach Outdoor League Conservation and Recreation, Primetime Seniors and Massillon YMCA where he swam 100's of miles.

Ralph retired from Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad where he worked as an engineer and served as Union President.

He is survived by son, David R. Dickerson of Massillon; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bobbie Foss of North Canton: and brother and sister-in-law Ray and Nancy Dickerson of Massillon. He was lovingly known as 'Pops' to grandchildren, Becky (Roy) Davis, Matthew and Brian Foss, and great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan , Destiny and Kyliee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, of 56 yrs Donna Mae (Kuntz) Dickerson who died in 2009.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
