Raymond L. Eschman, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 with his loving family by his side.

He was born at Pigeon Run on the family farm on June 20, 1926, son of  the late Ludwig Eschmann and Flora W. (Theas) Eschmann.

Ray graduated from Washington High School class of 1944.  He worked for Ohio Drilling and was owner of Eschman Trucking for many years.  He retired from Republic Steel Corporation in 1986 after 34 years as a crane operator.

He enjoyed boating and traveling the United States.  Browsing auctions, playing euchre and going to car shows and tractor shows were his passion.

Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Matilda (Arko) Eschman, son and fiance' Kenneth Eschman and Peggy Hemperly all of Massillon, daughter and son-in-law Cathi and Jeff Heitger of Jackson Twp., sister Kitty Henderson of Holland, Ohio, sister-in-law Helen Eschman of Dalton, grandchildren Tom Heitger of Canal Fulton, Dan Heitger of Jackson Twp., Nicole (Adam) Williams and Shannon Eschman all of Canton and Sara (Ryan) Wanner of Massillon, three-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 4 to 6 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel with Rev. Calvin Hamblin officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Massillon.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 962 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
