Richard L. Allen, age 84 of Massillon, passed away after a brief illness at his home.

He was born May 24, 1930 in Springfield, Mass to the late Charles and Eva (Norris) Allen.

He graduated from Billard Naval Academy in 1949 and attended the University of Vermont.  He retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was commanding officer of the Naval Sea Cadets USS Lake Champlain.

Richard was the owner of Martin Audio Visual until his retirement in 2002.  Prior to that he was National Sales Manager with the Bell and
Howell Company.

In 1950 he married Dolores Dufour and she died in 1997 after 47 years of marriage.  He is survived by his children, Christine of Chicago, IL, Richard, Paul and Bill all of the area, close companion Mary Olivera of Canton, nine grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Massillon with Rev. Edward Gretchko
celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Church, 726 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio  44646.
