Richard L. Carnes, age 72, of Massillon passed away September 30, 2022 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center.

He was born January 7, 1950 in Canton to the late Leroy Carnes and Grace Burkey.

He was an avid sports fan especially for the Massillon Tigers and their Swing Band and The Cleveland Indians.

He worked for many years at West Stark Center in Massillon with the Stark Board of Developmental Disabilities (SBDD.)

Once you met Rich, you loved him.  He called everyone he knew "my buddy."   He created a  special bond with the individuals and staff of both the Wilson Residential Home on Green St and Bala Management in Massillon.  We all experienced his love of Christmas music way before and after the holiday season.

Friends are welcome to come celebrate his life Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, Massillon from 6 PM to 7 PM.

His final place of rest will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
