Richard T. "Dick" Scott, age 85 of Massillon peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, June 6, 2015, with his family at his side.
He was born March 24, 1930, in Charleston, WV and was the son of the late William W. and Margaret L. (Zimmek) Scott.
Dick was a machinist and retired in 1985 from Tyson Roller Bearing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 57 years and was an usher for many years.
He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and was involved with Massillon Boosters Clubs for Football, Baseball, and Band. He was a member of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club and was an avid golfer.
Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Yochum) Scott of Massillon, sons and daughters-in-laws; Bill (Jenny) Scott of Naperville, IL, and Mike (Ilona) Scott of Woodstock, GA, daughter Cindy Scott and Denis of Massillon, daughter and son-in-law Linda (Dan) Kelley of Brea, CA, sisters Barbara Sanford of Columbia, IL, and Carolyn Weizenicker of Tomahawk, WI, grandchildren Zachary (Kelly) Scott, Hillary Scott, Clayton Scott, Brett Kelley and Lauren Kelley and great-granddaughter Nicole Scott.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Peggy Hess.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio, 44646.
Dick's celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 11 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 Cherry Rd. N.E., Massillon with Rev. David R. Saylor officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations can be made in Dick's memory to Community Hospice, 408 9th St. S. W., Canton, Ohio 44707 or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Massillon.
