Richard D. Gravo, Sr, age 92 of Massillon, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026. He was born January 20, 1934 in Louisville the son of the late Daniel and Agnes (Schrader) Gravo.
He was a Marine veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Richard retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish- St. Mary’s.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Natalie Gravo and first wife Marla Jean Gravo.
Richard is survived by his children Richard (Janice) D. Gravo Jr, Peter (Dianna) Gravo, Cassandra (Brad) Sponseller and Gretchen Gravo. In addition, he is survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Carolyn) Gravo, Dennis (Helene) Gravo, Jack (Jeanne) Gravo, and Michell (Debra) Gravo.
For those who knew Richard well, you know he thoroughly enjoyed his family, his Forest Trail Condo community friends, his big band music (loudly), the occasional Irish coffee, bucket hats, and most importantly, his beloved dog Gigi.
The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Senior Living, Massillon for the loving care they gave to Richard in the past few months. Special mention to nurses Nikki and Kiki for their endless care, compassion and ice cream sandwiches.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Heitger Funeral Home - MASSILLON CHAPEL, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow and be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish- St. Mary’s Campus, 206 Cherry Rd. N.E., Massillon at 11:00 AM with Very Rev. John Sheridan, J.C.L., V.F., celebrant. Burial to follow the service at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon.
