Richard George Sasala, age 77 of Chardon, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Laurels Of Massillon.

He was born December 31, 1936, the son of the late John  and Inez (Makey) Sasala.

Richard was captain of Twinsburg High School Basketball team, and played football in his youth, he was a volunteer for Twinsburg Vol. Fire Department for 20 years.

He retired after 40 years from self employment, as an operating engineer, and contractor.

Richard is survived by his wife, Laura (Sir Lours) Sasala; sons, Richard J. Sasala of Chardon, Jeff Sasala of Bedford, John Sasala of Cleveland; daughters, Pamela Ann (Chris) Bunnenberg of Massillon, Kelly Ann Duval of The Villages, FL; brothers, Donald "Tony" (Marge) Sasala of Aurora, Robert "Bob" Sasala of Vermillion, Dale (Dottie) Sasala of Aurora; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann.

A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 11AM with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating.

Burial will be at 2:15pm at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
