Rita Agnes Eckstein, age 86, of Massillon, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Shady Lawn Health Care Community following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born September 22, 1925 in Massillon, the daughter of the late Leo and Christina (Ertle) Ritzka.

She retired from Bordner's in 1987. Rita was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, and the St. Mary's quilting group. She was an avid quilter and loved to work with her husband, Bill, making various crafts.

Rita is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Eckstein of Massillon; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Auck of Marshallville; grandson, Nathan Auck of Salt Lake City, UT; and many more beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Jordan, Helen Grim, Mary Mundell and an infant brother. Visitation will be held Monday, June 4 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant.
