Robert A. Guertal, age 68, of Massillon, died on February 20, 2015 in Naples, FL. He was born November 2, 1946 in Victoria, TX.
Bob lived most of his life in the Canton, Massillon area. He attended Canton Lincoln High School. He entered the U.S. Army in January, 1964 and retired at Sgt. 1st. Class in August 1984, after proudly and honorably serving his Country 20 years, 6 months and 1 day.

Specialties: Medical Specialist and (Secret Clearance). Military Education: Medical Specialist 1964. Basic Leadership Course 1973, NCO Primary Academy 1975.
Advanced NCO Academy 1981 and Honorable discharge 1984. Awarded National Defence Service Medal. Two Army Commendation Medals. Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal awarded six times, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon awarded five times, N.C.O. Professional Development Ribbon awarded three times. Also the Presidential Unit Citation awarded three times from the Second Infantry Division. (Korea)
Served in Germany twice, three tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.

Bob formerly was proudly employed at Elum Music Co.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert M. Guertal and brothers, Greg (Sharon) Guertal, Stan (Diane) Guertal, Doug Adkins, and Rick Delp. Four stepsons and one stepdaughter, special friends, Mary, Ginger and Tony and Lucy M. Flory.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma who passed away in January 2014, his parents, Clarence and Mary (Lieber) Guertal and grandfather, Robert Lieber.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at Heitger Funeral Home-Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., from 6-8 PM with an Eagles Aerie #190 service at 5:45 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10 AM at Heitger Funeral Home-Massillon Chapel with Rev. Leslie Peine officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Military organization of your choice.
