Obituary

Bob, a resident of Massillon, died July 28th after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born in Fremont, OH on May 7, 1947 to the late Fred and Clementine Otte. A graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School, Bob went on to study Education at Bowling Green State University. Here he met his college sweetheart, Laura Fegley. They have been married for 57 loving years. Raising three daughters Amy, Nancy and Carrie.

Bob’s career in education was with the Massillon City School District. He obtained his master’s degree in administration from the University of Akron. During his tenure with Massillon he spent time as Principal at Franklin, York and Gorrell elementaries where he retired. He then went on to enjoy a few years working with friends at GMR Builders. Ultimately his love and devotion to St Barbara’s Parish and school led him back for a final decade dedicated to leading as school principal.

Summer’s were spent traveling and camping with his family. He cherished his Airstream camper and enjoyed favorite spots to include East Harbor State Park. Bob loved to fish and spent time catching perch and Lake Erie’s finest. As an avid bicycle rider, he rode countless miles on the roads with friends. Adventure did not deter him as one summer he rode from Ohio to Connecticut by bike to visit his sister. Bob looked forward to the camaraderie at breakfast every Saturday at the Station restaurant in Brewster Ohio.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Laura; three daughters, Amy, Nancy (Stephen) Hrynko and Carrie (David) Ottopal; grandchildren, Nicholas, Brock, Brent and Molly; sister, Merita (Walt) Smith of Brandford, Connecticut; sister-in-law, Alyce Otte of Fremont Ohio; brother, Denis Otte of Fremont Ohio as well as his loving aunt, Sister Rosalie Halm, SND of Toledo Region.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Otte; sister, Christine Opple; brother-in-law, Bob Opple; brother-in-law, Joseph Fegley; and sister-in-law, Paulette Fegley.
