Robert McCue Simmons, age 87 of Massillon passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 following a brief illness.

He was born January 3, 1929 in Glenville, WV, son of the late Guy and Blanche (McCue) Simmons.

He enjoyed mowing and taking care of his property, gardening and working in his vegetable garden.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Alaska following WWII.

Robert retired from Timken Roller Bearing Company in Canton.  He had worked for 35 years and retired in 1985.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lorrie Simmons of Akron, Ohio, daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and David Jolley of Pickerington, Ohio, daughter Peggy Smith of Oak Island, N.C., brothers Guy Simmons Jr. of McLean, Virginia,  William K. Simmons of Cox's Mills, WV, sisters Jean Roberts of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Betty Hardman of Oak Hill, WV, Margie Hatcher of WV, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Lorena (Farnsworth) Simmons who died March 31, 2011 and granddaughter Angela Smith of North Carolina.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
