IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald R.
Rinner
August 8, 1945 – June 8, 2024
Ronald R. Rinner, age 78 of North Canton, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.
He was born August 8,1945, in Portland, Maine, the son of the late Ralph and Frances (Caddes) Rinner and was raised in Steubenville, Ohio. His life forever changed one night when a girl named Marilyn Geddis missed her bus and he gave her a ride home. This led to a beautiful love story lasting more than 61 years. Ron and Marilyn married in 1963 and he promptly enlisted in the US Army. After the army he worked for Ohio Power and attended the University of Steubenville where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Later, he earned a degree in law from University of Akron while working full time and raising four children. After several years in private practice, Ron moved into contracts law where he retired from IBM at the age of 70. In his retirement Ron enjoyed being an active member and deacon at the North Canton Chapel, spending time with his beloved family, playing golf, laying in his hammock, and watching his favorite sports teams.
Ron will be remembered for his faith, strength, integrity, and humor. To know him was to know a man who faithfully served his family, friends, and his savior Jesus Christ. It was this faith and strength that enabled him to fight a long, difficult battle against cancer that lasted more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marilyn (Geddis) Rinner; children, Ronald Rinner, Jr., Holly (John) Logan; Rebecca (Brad) Holt, Erin (Kelly) Rinner-Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Chloe (Michael) DeComo, Shelby (Michael) Novakovich, Hanna Rinner, Josh, Matthew, and Daniel Holt; great-grandchildren, Henry, Stephen, Peter, and Clara.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ralph "Rick" Rinner II; brother, John Rinner; and brother-in-law, John Geddis.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at North Canton Chapel, 715 Whittier Ave. NW, North Canton, 44720 at 1:00 PM with Pastors John Mangrum, Brannon Marshall, and Dave Short officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
