Rose Marie Maier, age 93, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. She was born July 20, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of  the late Charles and Mary (Soneriu) Mailat. Rose Marie retired from Central States Can after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, and Divine Mercy Parish, St. Barbara Campus. She belonged to Canton Lehman High School Alumni Association where she was a past board member. Rose Marie loved to write stories of her family life and poetry.  She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Rose Marie is survived by sons, Johnnie (Debbie) Maier, Jr.,  Charles (Ruthanne) Maier,  George (Misty) Maier;  daughters, Veronica Maier, Kathleen (Mark) Steiner; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Johnnie Maier, Sr., a brother, and a sister. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, 1121 - 44th Street. N.E. Canton, at 10:00 A.M. with Very Rev. Ovidiu Marginean and Fr. Edward Gretchko. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the church from 4:30 P.M.  to 7:30 P.M., with Saracusta Service at 7 P.M. Calling hour on Friday from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. prior to the service. Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral. Condolences to the family may be made here on our tribute wall.
