Rudolph Nicholas Valentine, 85, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 following a brief illness.
After serving in the Coast Guard during WWII, Rudy returned to Canton and married Millie Guthrie to whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Gail (Fred) Tuttle of Jackson Twp., sister Rose McPherson of Massillon; granddaughters: Lisa (Paul) Lyda of Powell, Ohio and Dr. Leslie Tuttle McKinley of Massillon, great-grandsons: PJ, Jeffrey, Benjamin and Matthew Lyda and Zachary McKinley. Rudy was preceeded in death by his beloved grandson Jeffrey Thomas Tuttle; his parents Gaetano (Tom) and Maria ; sisters: Mary DeGeorge, Amelia Dasco, Anne Studeny, brothers: Michael Valentine, Herman Valentine and Joseph Valentine.
He retired from Heinemann Saw Co in Canton. Rudy and Millie spent many summers at Tappan Lake vacationing with family. His great passion for books and music were passed on to his daughter Gail and her family. Rudy and Millie loved to dance especially at the Eagles. Rudy never knew a stranger and was a friend to many. Jane's restaurant was his favorite haunt. His newfound passion for making new friends on Facebook gave him great pleasure. His family will always remember his patience, kindness and his zest for life.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel.
Private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
