Sheila K. Vess, age 78, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Life Care Hospice in Wooster.

She was born April 9, 1948, in Massillon, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mary (Albright) Weckman.

She was a member of St. Mary's in Massillon.

Sheila is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Neilee Vess; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Matt Tietze; grandchildren, Mallori (Rhett) Harris, Brayden (Brittney) Vess, Luke Vess (Callie Proper), Christian (Mazie) Tietze, Victoria Tietze, (Justin Miller); great-grandchildren, Navy Harris, Romy Harris, Graham Tietze, Georgia Tietze, Wylder Harris, Truett Vess; brother, Van (Janie) Weckman; and sister, Rita Haines.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gerald "Jerry" Vess; and brother, John Tilton.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:30 A.M., at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, Massillon.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service at the funeral home, from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M.

Burial to follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Life Care Hospice.
