Shirley R.  Hartmann, age 78 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016. She was born April 15, 1938, in Canton the daughter of  the late Weldon and Virginia (Abernethy)  Smith. She was a member McKinley Eagles and enjoyed boating.  She was the head of Mayfield Ballroom Dancing and a volunteer at Affinity Medical Center. Shirley is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Jill Hartmann of Massillon and  Mike and Margie Hartmann of Navarre; daughter, Lori  Weikert of Applecreek; brother , William J Smith of Richville; grandsons, Jared and Matt Hartmann; granddaughter, Anna Weikert and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Gerald Hartmann who died in 2012, son James Hartmann who died in 2003 and granddaughter Sara Weikert who died 2014. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M.  at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to  Charity of Your Choice.
