Stig Ake Berg, 79 of Jackson Twp. passed away April 27, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 21, 1935 in Gothenburg, Sweden the son of the late Bengt A. and Margit (Anderson) Berg.

He retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service.

Stig retired from SD Myers in 1996 where he was an electrical technician for 16 years.

With the excellent care of both Akron Children's Hospital Burn Center and the Cleveland Clinic Transplant Center, Stig recovered from his burn injury and received a lung transplant which gave him 16 more years with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Krista (Doug) Ritz, Karina Kohler; grandchildren, Kaitlin Cassidy, Chelsea Berg, Rileigh Kohler, Logan Kohler, great-granddaughter, Avery Medrano; siblings, Anita (John) Gross, Lars (Carol) Berg, Kajsa (Brad) Smith, Mats Berg.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jennifer Belden Berg.

A memorial service will be held May 2, 2015 at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW at 10am.

Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Akron Children's Burn Center where he spent months recovering.
