Ted Ace Anderson, age 84, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on June 17, 2026, after a brave fight with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1942, to Madonna Mae Brown Anderson and Theodore Armas Anderson.
He met Virginia “Ginny” Claire Walsh on a blind date while in college, and together they shared nearly 62 years of marriage. Their life together was marked by devotion, faith, family, and adventure, including six memorable years living in China.
A proud alumnus of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, he went on to build a successful engineering career with Babcock & Wilcox. His work took him and his wife to Ohio and abroad, creating lasting friendships and experiences along the way. Following his retirement from Babcock & Wilcox, he became a substitute teacher at Jackson High School and tutored many students in math and science.
He was a loving father to Mary (Dave), Tom (Xiao-Ling), David (Leigh Anne) and Edward (Grace); a proud grandfather to Mindi (Andrew), Michael (Amanda), Melissa (Ryan), Katie, Alex, Arianna, and Leo; and a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, Liam, Kellen, Kendall, Emerson, and Owen Ace.
He was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, a skilled golfer who loved time spent on the fairways at Chippewa Golf Club, an active racquetball player, and an ice cream enthusiast who never turned down a scoop. He also enjoyed learning about his genealogy and family history.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, faith, quiet strength, high moral standards, and devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Madonna Mae Brown Anderson and Ted Armas Anderson, and his sister, Kathryn Joyce Anderson Tucker (Carl).
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 25th from 5pm to 7pm at Heitger Funeral Home at 5850 Wales Ave NW, Massillon, OH 44646. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michael Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718, on Friday, June 26th at 10am. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park at 5000 Everhard Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society or call 800.237.2455 to donate in his memory.
